It was dumb to go to Kroger today at 5pm, but hey, I did not want to miss my dear husband's call. All I needed was packaging tape. It could have waited for a Walmart run tomorrow morning. The Glus-Condroit. might have been cheaper at Walmart, too. Kroger runs these buy one-get-one free deals, but whoa. That joint stuff is not cheap.
It made me mad to see the horrid "US" magazine staring me in the face at checkout. Right there by "People". Both looked to be bad-mouthing Governor Sarah Palin. I never buy them anyway, but it was tempting to ask them to be removed.
But, when the checker dropped the cherry tomatoes all over the floor, put them back and asked if I wanted them, that was enough. How many more signs does one need?
I did get a chuckle out of the display of lunch-sized mac and cheese wrapped in a wine pushing bunting. September is back to school month for some...so let's push that wine. Maybe this is the month that grapes are harvested and wine is made, I don't know.

100 degree days here in Texas
Hot ! Hot ! Hot ! And it is depressing. Maybe, I need to focus on the positive.
I am thankful for AC. (How did folks survive these summers one hundred years ago??)
I am thankful for two or three showers a day. Plenty of clean towels, and fresh, clean water. I am thankful for clean, dry clothes, and a fancy washer and dryer to feed.
My quest this week has been trying to find those blank Texas themed cards to use for snail mail. I bought some a couple of weeks ago at Walmart, and used up the last one and thought that every Walmart carried them. Wrong. It took my third try at the third Walmart I frequent to stumble upon them. They are so much cheaper than Hallmark cards, and lots of blank space inside to write my own greetings. I bookmarked the website this time: mybluebonnets.com And placed an order for more cards on sale for fifty cents online !!! Fifty cents for a birthday card, anniversary card !!! Can't beat that. Displayed in a wooden case a few rows back from the cards at Walmart near the new Cowboy stadium, the cards feature beautiful bluebonnets, Texas flags, and one card has bluebonnets in a Blue Bell Ice Cream tub. Texas critters and Texas skylines for the more manly needed greetings like armadillos and fancy license plates. I am now ready for any event needing a card.

The Last Time Ever I ......(song)
There is a smoky, old romantic song about the first time ever I saw your face...and googling says its Roberta Flak, but while I was shopping for middle son's deodorant at Wal-mart today, I sang it as: "The last time ever I buy your deodorant, and unless you want it for birthday presents or Christmas...La La la la---aaaahah..."
I had him write down whatall was on the label so I got the right kind, but High Endurance had branched out into clear and solid. No more "stick". (not that it ever resembled a stick, in my opinion) So, I bought both.
At the juice section, I was restocking on all kinds of fruit juices---grape, orange, grapefruit, apple, and would soon venture down another aisle for gatorade, when a lady pondered aloud, "how can you afford these prices?" I blurted out that my son was only home for two more weeks... and headed for the milk department. Call me Mrs. Insensitive. But, I had to quit singing my song because it was making my eyes leak.
