Storm of the Week

We are experiencing weekly storms with tornadoes, wind, hail, and rain of Biblical proportions. Last night's excitement included more than the usual lightening. And of course, middle son had waited until the last minute to get his haircut. I worked as fast as I could with the clippers, but I could not help but smile to think he might have to sport a mohawk to class this morning if the power went out again. The lights blinked once, but I got the job done, and left a little on top for color. Today is their last day to troop through the local park playing Army games (training). Middle son had so much fun playing the "enemy" last week that he dressed up again as a member of the press. Jeans, straw cowboy hat, and a very small spiral for the dress shirt pocket. Like no reporter I have ever seen on the news, but a fearsome enemy no doubt to his lower ROTC classmates.

And I love his story about how he (as a member of the press corps) ambushes the troops. Interviewing them to get them to report their position and troop strength, having them stage an attack for the camera (which coincidently has them charging into an ambush or trompling on IEDs). Ah yes. As Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young used to sing, "Teach the Children Well".
